Adoption–An adoption ceremony is instrumental in making an adoptive child feel welcome and accepted into his/her new family. Usually, family and friends are invited to give their support and blessing to the child and to the new family being created. Having a good support system makes the adoptive child feel secure in the knowledge that many people care about him/her. It also tells the family they are not alone in this new adventure and that there will be many “aunts, uncles and cousins” who will be there to love this child along with them. Elements from the naming ceremony may be used here as well, such as reading the meaning of the child’s name and how he/she came to receive it. This ceremony is important in making the child feel that they now “belong” to a family.
LoveNotes Ministers will create a meaningful adoption ceremony for you and your child, regardless of age, at the location of your choice. Keepsake Certificates, suitable for framing, are available for purchase to commemorate this important day in your adoptive child’s life. It will also remind your child they now have a new last name and belong to a special family. (see Adoption Certificate) (see Name Meaning Certificate) (see Name Wish Poem)
Not flesh of my flesh, nor bone of my bone.
But, still miraculously, my own.
Never forget for a single minute,
you didn’t grow under my heart, but in it.
